Have Faith in God:

The Mountain-Moving Secret Every Man Needs.

You’ve got mountains, brother. We all do. Maybe it’s a mountain of debt that keeps growing no matter how hard you work. Maybe it’s a mountain of marital conflict that feels like it will never be scaled. Maybe it’s a mountain of addiction or anger or fear that has loomed over your life for years. You’ve tried climbing. You’ve tried digging through. You’ve tried going around. But the mountain remains.

Jesus gives you a direct command—not a suggestion, not a gentle recommendation. He says, Have faith in God (Mark 11:22). And then He promises that with that kind of faith, you can speak to your mountain and it will move.

For the Christian man who is tired of being stuck at the base of the same old mountains, these verses are your battle orders.

The Context: A Withering Fig Tree and a Shocking Promise

In Mark 11, Jesus cursed a fig tree that had leaves but no fruit. The next day, Peter noticed the tree had withered from its roots. Jesus used that moment to teach a radical lesson about prayer and faith. He said, “Have faith in God. Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

Notice: Jesus didn’t say “have faith in your faith” or “have faith in the formula.” He said have faith in God. The object of your faith is not the size of your belief—it’s the character and power of the One you believe in. A little faith in a big God moves mountains. A lot of faith in a small god moves nothing.

Why Men Struggle with This Kind of Faith

We’re pragmatic. We want a step-by-step plan. “If I say this prayer with this much intensity for this many days, then God will do X.” But Jesus’ teaching blows up our formulas. Faith is not a technique; it’s a relationship. It’s trusting the Person more than the outcome.

The biggest obstacle to have faith in God is our own self-reliance. We want to be the mountain-mover. But Jesus says the mountain moves when you speak to it in faith—because the power is not in your words, but in the God who hears them. Your job is to believe. His job is to move.

What Does It Mean to Not Doubt in Your Heart?

Jesus says “does not doubt in his heart.” The Greek word for doubt (diakrinō) means to waver, to divide, to hesitate between two opinions. A doubting heart says, “Maybe God will, maybe He won’t.” A believing heart says, “God said it, I believe it, that settles it.”

This doesn’t mean you never have questions or fears. Faith is not the absence of doubt—it’s choosing to act despite the doubt. The man who says, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24) is still operating in faith. He’s bringing his doubt to God instead of letting it paralyze him.

How a Man Prays with Mountain-Moving Faith

Here’s how you put have faith in God into practice as a Christian man:

  • Identify your mountain – Be specific. “Financial collapse.” “My son’s rebellion.” “Lust that won’t loosen its grip.” Name it. Don’t vague it up.
  • Speak to it directly – Jesus said “say to this mountain.” Speak out loud. “Mountain of debt, I command you to be thrown into the sea in Jesus’ name.” This is not magic—it’s obedience to Christ’s command.
  • Believe you have received – Notice the tense: “believe that you have received it.” Not “will receive.” Past tense. In the spiritual realm, the moment you pray in faith, it’s done. The physical manifestation is coming.
  • Refuse to take it back – When doubt whispers, “It didn’t work,” answer, “No, I have already received it. I’m waiting for the delivery.”

What If the Mountain Doesn’t Move Immediately?

God’s timing is not our timing. Sometimes He moves instantly—like the fig tree withering overnight. Sometimes He moves gradually—like Israel taking the Promised Land one battle at a time. Faith is not a remote control; it’s a long obedience in the same direction.

Keep speaking to the mountain. Keep believing. Keep thanking God for the answer. The same Jesus who said “have faith in God” also taught a parable about a persistent widow who kept coming to the unjust judge. If persistence works with an unjust judge, how much more with your loving Father?

A Faith That Moves Mountains in Your Family

Brother, your family needs you to be a man of mountain-moving faith. Your wife needs to hear you speak faith over your marriage, not fear. Your kids need to see you pray boldly, not tentatively. Your congregation needs men who will look at impossible situations and say, “Have faith in God—this mountain is moving.”

You don’t have to be a prophet. You just have to be a man who takes Jesus at His word.

Your Next Step

Right now, stand up. Look at the biggest mountain in your life. Speak to it. Say, “In the name of Jesus, I command you to be removed. I have faith in God, not in my own ability. I believe I have already received the answer.” Then walk away and thank God that it’s done.
